The Broncos needed Bryce Callahan last year.
Luckily for the downtrodden Denver team who’s been beaten up in terms of numerous injuries this year, the Broncos have Bryce Callahan back in 2020.
And the cornerback has not disappointed this year, picking off two passes, defending four more and recovering a fumble as well.
But Callahan’s interception last week was a crucial turning point in the Broncos’ comeback win for the ages. Denver found themselves trailing 24-10, late in the third quarter, with the rival Chargers driving thanks to a Drew Lock interception. Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert tossed up a deep ball to Mike Evans in the end zone which was ripped away by Callahan and Denver took over.
Not only that, but the offense rode the momentum of the phenomenal play to march down the field methodically, 80 yards, and bring the game to within a touchdown. The Broncos eventually scored three straight touchdowns on their last three offensive drives to win the game 31-30 and knock off LA. In fact, Callahan played so well, he earned an 87.3 grade from Pro Football Focus, the second-best cornerback of the week.
