Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson hopes to be rolling in dough with a new contract this year, but before his time becomes consumed with his impending free agency he joined Clippers point guard Chris Paul to do a different kind of rolling. The bowling ball kind.

On Wednesday, Paul hosted his annual CP3 PBA Celebrity Invitational bowling tournament benefitting the Chris Paul Family Foundation. Anderson, a recently crowned Super Bowl champion, was one of several NFL stars to take part in the event. Two former All-Pros, wideout Terrell Owens and defensive end Marcellus Wiley, also joined in the fun along with USWNT goaltender Hope Solo and others.
Each athlete was paired with a professional bowler, although in the case of Anderson, there were two pro bowlers on his team.
“That didn’t happen by accident,” Anderson told the Clippers team site. “I’ve always said I want to get on the event. I see T.O. and other guys bowling. He linked up with my people, and it feels good to be here.”
Anderson signed a pro contract with the bowling company Storm back in June 2015. His official title: Amateur Staff. According to the company, Anderson uses bowling to keep his mental game sharp.
Paul, meanwhile, told the team site that he was staying sharp for Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets, despite the relaxed atmosphere of the event.
“I’m thinking about the game still,” Paul said. “I’m trying to make sure they’ve got the Denver game over there while we’re playing. I’ve got to see what’s going on.”
The Nuggets travel to Los Angeles after losing to the Kings at home on Tuesday night. It was their second loss to Sacramento in five nights.
Following the event, Anderson issued his gratitude to Paul via Twitter.

Anderson will become a restricted free agent on March 9 when the 2016 NFL year officially begins. He had another solid year for the Broncos and is expected to enter camp as the No. 1 running back, should a deal be worked out.
