Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. joined Dave Dameshek of NFL Network to talk about Mark Sanchez and who he thinks looked better in training camp, Paxton Lynch or Brock Osweiler.
Of Sanchez, he believes the veteran quarterback has done everything right during his transition to Denver.
“He (Sanchez) came in, and he’s brought good leadership that we needed, losing Peyton,” Harris said. “We had to find some new guys that can take the helm as the leadership on the offense. He brought that attitude. He’s joining a Super Bowl winning team, so he knows he has to put in the work.”
And Harris believes that work is going to be made significantly easier with the Broncos upgraded offensive line. Despite losing Ryan Clady, Louis Vasquez, Evan Mathis and Ryan Harris this offseason, the Broncos look to be in better shape with the likes of Donald Stephenson and Russell Okung holding down the tackle positions.
And the refurbished running back corps is a big help, too.
“We’re fine with him handing the ball off. We’re going to have a great offensive line this year,” Harris said. “They’re way better than they were last year. The running backs … I love Devontae Booker, he looked great during OTAs. I could see him, C.J. [Anderson] and Ronnie [Hillman] having tons of carries, man, and us living off the defense, too.”
And if it’s not Sanchez behind center, Harris feels Lynch could be up for the task. When asked about who gave off a better first impression, Lynch or Osweiler, he was quick to answer.
“I would say Paxton,” Harris said. “He had better touch on his ball, more accuracy than I think Brock had when he first came in the league. That’s the one thing I can see that will definitely help him. And he’s more mobile; he can run and do a little more moving in the pocket than I think Brock could, too.”
