Ahead of the Avalanche home opener on Thursday October 9th, the team sent the following letter to season ticket holders highlighting the excitement of the team’s 30th anniversary.
As we prepare to welcome you, the Avs Faithful, back to Ball Arena for our home opener, there is an unprecedented excitement within our organization. Whether it’s the regular season return of our captain, Gabe Landeskog, the tentpole events for our 30th anniversary season, or the upgrades to the fan experience at Ball Arena, this year promises to be one of the most exciting in Avalanche history.
The story always begins on the ice, with generational players such as Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar leading the way in relentless pursuit of new hardware. Add in the returning leadership of our captain, the full season additions of Brock Nelson, Martin Nečas, Jack Drury, and Brent Burns, the dynamic goaltending tandem of The Lumberyard, and the steady stewardship of Jared Bednar, this year’s team is the deepest and most complete roster since we lifted the Cup in Tampa. We hope the win opening night in Los Angeles is a glimpse of the season to come!
The first thing you will notice when arriving at the rink is the 30th anniversary logo which adorns center ice and will serve as the focal point of this year’s celebrations. On December 11th, we will honor the 1996 Stanley Cup Champions that brought the very first professional sports championship to Denver while we fittingly face off against the Florida Panthers – the team the Avs defeated in the Final 30 years ago. The celebrations will continue on January 23rd against Philadelphia when we welcome back the 2001 Stanley Cup Champions and will culminate on March 10th against Edmonton when we celebrate our most recent 2022 Stanley Cup win.
While we spent the offseason focused on building a championship-caliber team on the ice, we also looked at improving our overall experience off the ice. In our fan feedback surveys, comments around improving the quality, selection, and value of food and beverage offerings at Ball Arena stood out to us. As a result, we have overhauled our menus for this season, focusing on new local options for pizza, burgers, BBQ and Mexican food, while introducing our $5 Avs Faithful fan pricing for staples such as hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, and soda. We have also lowered the prices on domestic beer in select locations throughout the building, to deliver more taste and value to you, our most loyal fans.
We’ve also re-imagined the merchandise experience throughout Ball Arena. You will find an overhauled look, feel, and format of our team stores in the building with new merchandise items, premium brands, and expanded points of sale. We believe this will bring you greater choice while expediting your shopping experience. And we just might have some new merchandise dropping in stores soon, so pay attention to Avs Social Media channels for some uniform easter eggs.
Cheering on our current heroes, celebrating our past, and improving your experience at Ball Arena are our focal points for the upcoming season and we can’t wait to see you tonight to begin a campaign that we all hope will last deep into June. Thank you for believing and taking the journey with us!
