For the umpteenth time, the RISE is real.
Not only did the Colorado Buffaloes earn their first victory against a top-25 opponent all year, pushing them one step closer to a Pac-12 championship, but they earned not just Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, but Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, too.
The double whammy!
Sefo Liufau earned his second Offensive Player of the Week award on the season (an accomplishment no other player in the conference can match), totaling 453 yards of total offense (345 through the air and 108 on the ground) and three touchdowns, all rushing.
Defensively, it was Nick Fisher stepping up in the secondary, as the Buffs starting safeties went down and he was forced into action. He recorded six tackles and one pass breakup, while also forcing three third down stops and a fourth down stop.
Heading into the game, Fisher had only been on the field for 39 plays all season. On Saturday, he played 67.
That should certainly earn him some more playing time.
These are the Buffs’ seventh and eighth weekly Pac-12 honors (four offensive, two defensive and two special teams), which is tied with the 2001 team for most in program history. It’s also most of any program in the Pac-12 this season.
