Colorado Buffaloes’ seeding nearly finalized for Pac-12 Tournament. Who will they face?

In the world of PAC-12 basketball, the Colorado Buffaloes women just finished their final regular season game of the season, with a dominant 26-point victory over the California Golden Bears, while CU’s men have just one game remaining before the postseason.

As a result, the women have their seeding cemented for the PAC-12 tournament, while the men have solidified the fact they’ll either own the No. 9 seed or the No. 10 seed in their tournament.

More likely than not, the men will wind up with the No. 9 seed, as dropping to 10 would require a Stanford road sweep of the two Oregon schools and Colorado losing to Utah in the regular season finale.

If the Colorado Buffaloes’ men can hold onto the conference’s ninth seed, they’ll be slated to play the Washington Huskies in the first round of the tournament, which is a much more preferable match-up to what they’ll see if they slide. The Pac-12’s 10th seed will be tasked with facing either Arizona State, Oregon, Utah, or Washington State in round one.

That said, the Buffs have weirdly had better luck against those conference powers (3-3 combined record) than they’ve had against Washington (0-2 record), who has a losing record on the season.

Meanwhile, who the Colorado Buffaloes’ women will face is also undecided, despite all the women’s seeding being finalized, as the Buffs earned a first-round bye, as one of the conference’s top-four seeds.

They’re set to face the winner of Wednesday’s USC vs. Oregon St. battle on Thursday, and the added rest the Buffs will have should definitely help.

Although it feels unlikely the 12-17 Oregon State Beavers upset the 21-8 USC Trojans, it’s far from an impossibility, as the Beavers forced overtime in their lone matchup with the Trojans this season, in L.A., less than two weeks ago.

One can safely assume the Colorado Buffaloes’ women would greatly prefer a draw against Oregon State, as they thumped the Beavers by nearly 20 in their matchup earlier this season. Against the Trojans, they lost by 17 and trailed for the entirety of the game’s final three quarters.
