The Colorado Rapids have had a busy day on the personnel front. Soon after the club acquired attacker Shkëlzen Gashi, the Rapids announced that the club had traded midfielder Marcelo Sarvas to DC United in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money and a conditional 2018 SuperDraft pick.

Sarvas, who only played one season with the Colorado Rapids, appeared in 25 games (starting 21 of them), scored two goals and registered one assist.
It was a disappointing year offensively from a player hoped to provide a scoring spark from the midfield. Colorado was aggressive in the offseason at that position, adding Zach Pfeffer from Philadelphia in a trade and Emmanuel Appiah with their first draft pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft (following a series of trades).
Sarvas worked his way though his own hometown club, Corinthians, in São Paulo before spending five years playing Swedish football. He also had brief stints in Portland and Costa Rica.
The Colorado Rapids acquired Sarvas from the LA Galaxy on January 15, 2015 in exchange for the third slot in the Allocation Ranking Order along and General Allocation Money.
The Rapids regular season begins on Mar. 6 from San Jose as the Rapids take on the Earthquakes before returning home on Mar. 12, for their home opener against the LA Galaxy.
