Colorado State Rams men’s basketball is back in the top 25.

At least, for today, the Goodman Top 25.

Basketball analyst Jeff Goodman is high on the Rams historic 69-48 win over No. 8 Creighton on Thanksgiving Day, so much so he’s put Colorado State in his own Top 25 at No. 14.

National media giving Colorado Sate attention

Jeff Goodman wasn’t the only national media member giving the Rams some love for their amazing win over Creighton.

Jon Rothstein loved the win for Medved, CSU, and the Mountain West.

In fact, after the win, he led off by talking about how well Isaiah Stevens has been playing this year. The Preseason Mountain West Player of the Year is leading Colorado State in scoring (17.5 PPG) and assists (7.8). In fact, those 7.8 assists per game are tied for second-most in the country currently.

Stevens is passing so well, he’s a huge reason why the Rams are currently 5th-best in the country in 2-point field goal percentage (53.9%). Not only is he finding teammates for easy buckets, but everyone on the team is more willing to share the ball when their best scorer shares it so readily, too.

And when he needs, Stevens can take the game over offensively. On Thanksgiving, he scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half with a variety of step-back jumpers and 3-pointers.

He’s playing so well, Rothstein said Stevens is playing at an All-American level:

If you don’t believe me, ask Creighton. The 6-foot point guard was surgical in his dissection of the Bluejays on Thursday in Kansas City, tallying 20 points, seven assists, and six rebounds all while just committing one turnover in a 21-point win for Colorado State. The 69-48 rout was one of the more surprising results that we’ve seen so far this season and it firmly put the Rams on the national map. Stevens is currently averaging 17 points and 7.8 assists while shooting 57.6 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from three-point range. His assist-to-turnover ratio is 47:12. There’s not many players in the sport playing better than this guy.”

Oh, and for good measure, Dick Vitale also tweeted about the Rams.

Could AP Top 25 listing come Monday?

Colorado State is now 6-0 on the season and they have a top-notch win against No. 8 Creighton. They’re in the Goodman Top 25; will they be ranked by the Associated Press in their Top 25 on Monday?

Rewind to last week when CSU was 4-0 and it’s important to note they had one vote in the AP Top 25.

Now, after two more wins and the Hall of Fame Classic trophy, Colorado State should be ranked this week.

They went from No. 74 in the KenPom rankings to No. 25 overall, and it seems likely a spot in the 20s will appear next to their name soon.

If the Rams aren’t ranked on Monday, they have another shot at earning that ranking as the rival Colorado Buffaloes come to Moby Arena on Wednesday.

Currently, the Buffs are No. 18 in the country, but they lost to Florida State this week. They’ll likely slip from the rankings, but beating CU would still help boost the Rams resume.

That game will be a tough test for the Rams, but they will have six days off between games. Which will be helpful for the injured Patrick Cartier (back) who CSU will hope to have back.

The last time CSU was ranked was the 2021-22 season when David Roddy was the star and Stevens was his point guard. That team went 25-6 overall, was ranked as high as No. 20, and made the NCAA Tournament.
