Chad Kelly has officially signed with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts announced Kelly’s signing on Twitter, Monday morning.
According to the Colts’ press release, Kelly tried out for the team during its rookie minicamp. The former Rebels star apparently made enough of an impression to give the young QB a second chance.

Kelly, 25, was a seventh-round draft pick out of Ole Miss in 2017. In the 2018 preseason, Kelly impressed with the Broncos, completing 66 percent of his pass attempts and throwing three touchdowns in four appearances.
However, Kelly’s time with the Broncos came to an abrupt ending in October. Following a party, Kelly was arrested for trespassing on Oct. 23 – and was cut by the team shortly after. Kelly ultimately pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal trespassing in March, but did not have to serve any jail time.
With the addition of Kelly, the Colts now have four quarterbacks on the roster. Andrew Luck is obviously the starter – Kelly, Jacoby Brissett and Phillip Walker will presumably compete for the backup role.
