According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Jeff Hoffman will make his third major league start of the 2017 on Sunday in place of Tyler Anderson. Nightengale reported on Saturday that Anderson is headed to the disabled list.

However, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reported 50 minutes later that Anderson was feeling good after throwing his standard throwing session prior to a start.

Hoffman is 2-0 in two spot starts this season, allowing four runs on nine hits over 12.1 innings pitched. He’s allowed an impressive .196 batting average against in those starts while striking out 15 and walking just two.
Hoffman was scratched from a start on Friday with Triple-A Albuquerque, a possible sign a move was coming.
Anderson, meanwhile, has been up and down so far in 2017. He’s 3-5 overall with a 5.85 ERA in 11 starts. He’s improved of late, going 2-2 in the month of May with a 3.94 ERA. Anderson struggled in his last start of the month, however, allowing six runs on 11 hits in five innings.
There was no indication following Anderson’s rough outing on May 30 that he was suffering from any ongoing injury.
Anderson had a start in mid-May pushed back due to an inflamed left knee. He lost his next outing and is 1-2 since that time. Colorado is 1-3 in his starts since that time.
