The Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes clash tonight in the first of two contests in Denver.
Let’s take a look at this a Western Division showdown from a betting perspective in our Coyotes vs. Avalanche betting preview with odds, picks and player prop predictions.
Coyotes vs. Avalanche Betting Pick
The Avalanche enter this contest off of a disappointing 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks on Saturday night. They were heavily favored in that matchup and find themselves in a similar spot tonight.

Even with the defeat, Colorado is 4-2 in their last six games, and that’s with several key pieces missing in the lineup. Such absences include defensemen Bowen Byram and Cale Makar, and star forward Nathan MacKinnon, who has been out the last two games with a head injury. He may miss tonight’s contest as well.
Arizona has struggled lately, losing three of their last five contests. Now they have to go on the road for just the second time since Feb. 12 and face an Avalanche squad that swept the Coyotes in a two-game set last week in Glendale.

Bets We Like With a Coyotes Win
Phil Kessel to Score a Goal Anytime (+300, FanDuel)
The 33-year old veteran has been kept off the scoresheet in his last four games, with his last goal coming two Saturdays ago versus the Avalanche. Kessel has played well against Colorado, with 12 goals and seven assists in 20 meetings. Look for the six-time 30-goal scorer to find the back of the net this evening.

Bets We Like With an Avalanche Win
Brandon Saad to Score a Goal Anytime (+280 DraftKings)
The 28-year old forward scored his eighth goal of the season last night. It was his second goal in as many games.
With 14 points on the season, Saad continues to contribute offensively in the absence of Nathan MacKinnon, and I like for him to continue his hot scoring streak once again tonight.
Bets We Like Independent of the Outcome
First Period UNDER 1.5 Goals (-120 BetMGM)
Colorado is on a run of 12 straight games where the under in the first period has cashed in. Without two of their best players in Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, this team is having to rely on secondary players to score. As of late, that scoring isn’t coming within the first 20 minutes of play.
Coyotes vs. Avalanche Prediction
Colorado has been keeping afloat in the Western Division standings without some key stars, but this could be a tough spot for the home side, especially with the Coyotes looking to avenge a pair of losses from a week ago.
I like for a focused Arizona team to pull the upset here in a 3-2 overtime victory.
