The Coyotes will get one more regular season shot at Colorado tonight, hoping to see them again when the playoffs start next month, while Avalanche wrapped up their four-game road trip with a two-game sweep of the Anaheim Ducks Sunday. They went 3-1-0 on the trip, including a 4-1 win Sunday led by captain Gabriel Landeskog (1G, 2A) and leading scorer Nathan MacKinnon (1G, 1A).

Coyotes vs. Avalanche Betting Prediction
Arizona is a wildly streaky team, which is what makes them so unpredictable. They come into this game on a three-game losing skid after a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Vegas Sunday. The three straight losses allowed St. Louis to move back ahead of the Coyotes by a point in the playoff chase. Prior to that, Arizona had won six-of-seven to briefly pass the Blues in the standings.
Colorado is back on track after having a 15-game point streak stopped last Wednesday in Minnesota, but they’re still cruising against the competition. Colorado is 19-3-3 in it’s last 25 games, and now has the best record in the NHL (28-9-4, 60 points) as well as the best goal differential in the league (plus-50).
These to West Division rivals have met seven times already this season with the Avalanche having won 5-of-7 including a 9-3 shellacking the last time the two teams met in Denver.

Bets We Like With a Coyotes Win
Phil Kessel 1+ points (+108, DraftKings); or Kessel 2+ points (+475, DraftKings)
The Coyotes have a balanced offensive attack. Six different players have double digit goals with no one having more than 15 (Kessel). But Kessel is their leading point producer, and if the Coyotes are going to win, they’re going to have to rely on their best players. Kessel has at least one point in eight of the last 12 Coyotes games, so odds are in his favor to hit the first bet. But the odds on him having a multipoint night skyrocket. He’s only had nine multi-point games this season, which is why the odds are so long, but, four of those nine multipoint efforts have occurred in the last eight games. Kessel is feeling it, so it might be worth the good payday to take a flier on him.
Bets We Like With a Avalanche Win
OVER 5.5 goals (-120, FanDuel)
TheCoyotes and Avalanche have combined for 48 goals in their seven contests (6.86 per). That alone should make this a good bet. But recency bias should also show that the last three games between these teams in the past three weeks have had goal totals of six, nine and 12 goals. Colorado has posted at least four goals in 11-of-16 games, including all three against the Coyotes. We expect a higher scoring affair and we think the Avalanche win the game, so take the over.

CLAIM OFFERBets We Like Independent of Outcome
Nathan MacKinnon 2+ points (+125, DraftKings)
You have to ride the Avalanche’s top scorer until he slows down. Plus, with this being a value bet, it’s worth the risk. MacKinnon has a nine-game point streak and at least one point in 16-of-17. But you need two points or more on this bet, right? During that nine-game point streak, MacKinnon has posted a multipoint game six times. The Avalanche offense runs through him when he’s on the ice and he’s a danger to score every time.
Coyotes vs. Avalanche Pick
The Coyotes are going to be a game team in this one. They aren’t going to forget Colorado posting a nine spot on them 12 days ago. So expect Arizona to be competitive. But, it’s just too hard to bet against the Avalanche right now. They win all kinds of games all kinds of ways. We think this one will be a bit of a track meet. Avalanche 6, Coyotes 4.
