The long term future at quarterback still remains a question mark for the Denver Broncos, who pick No. 5 overall in the NFL Draft this year and could have their eye on a quarterback up north that many football fans in Denver, may be familiar with.
University of Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen represents one of many high-profile arms coming out in the draft. With impeccable arm strength, as well as a knowledgeable head on his shoulders that scored him the highest Wonderlic test score (37) among the high-profile quarterbacks. Allen is a premiere talent that is expected to be gone before the fifth pick.
Discussing his former quarterback with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 is head coach of the Wyoming football program Craig Bohl.
Bohl dishes on the small details about Allen, including some of the small details that makes Allen anchored to his roots.
“I think there’s no doubt the next step is going to be a challenge…yeah, it’s ideal for Josh to play behind a guy for a couple years, I don’t see that happening. I think somebodies going to draft him really high,” Bohl said, who also compared Allen to a former pro quarterback when it comes to style and mentality.
“Josh is like Brett Favre. I got frustrated last spring, we were out there last spring in Casper, we were doing a scrimmage. He was suppose to throw the fullback out in the flat on a bootleg and he throws a dart, sixty-five yards down the field on a rope to a back-side post.”
“I said ‘you’re suppose to throw the ball to the fullback’ and he goes ‘no, Favre says touchdowns first’ so whoever takes him, is got to realize he’s got some Favre in him.”
