On Tuesday, students returned to school at the University of Colorado for the spring semester. Amongst those attending classes in Boulder for the first time will be the six newest members of the men’s football team.
The Buffaloes announced Tuesday that they had signed five people to national letters of intent, adding another via junior college transfer. The five NLIs all graduated high school a semester early in order to enroll at CU.
CU signed two Colorado products in offensive lineman Jake Moretti and defensive end Dante Sparaco. Moretti missed his senior season at Pomona High Scool due to injury, but was one of two recipients of the Gold 16 Adversity Award given out by Mile High Sports. After wrapping up his junior campaign at Cherry Creek High School, Sparaco transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., which was ranked No. 2 nationally by USA Today.
Rounding out the class are defensive back Isaiah Lewis, quarterback Tyler Lytle, wide receiver Jaylon Jackson and defensive end Shamar Hamilton, who transferred from ASA College of Miami.
In addition to starting classes, the newest Buffs will work on strength and conditioning with the team for the next five weeks. They will then move into spring football, which starts Feb. 22.
