Darian Stewart is heading into his fourth season with the Denver Broncos and has been a key member of the “No Fly Zone” during his time in Denver.
Speaking to Eric Goodman and Nate Lundy of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Broncos safety Darian Stewart talked about the improved offense and his role as a safety for the Broncos.
Stewart describes what it takes to be a good defensive back in the NFL.
“Playing safety — you’re not just a free safety or a strong safety — you just have to be a football player,” said Stewart. “One thing about DB you have to have [is] good eyes. That’s going to help you play faster.”
Denver’s defense has been beating up the offense in training camp the last three years, but the offense has gotten the best of the defense early in training camp.
“Iron sharpens iron,” Stewart continued. “They’ve got some great talent over there. We got a quarterback [Case Keenum] that’s going to put them in positions to win. That’s what we needed, and we like seeing that. That lights a fire under us.”
Stewart has already been impressed with what he has seen from Keenum so far and is excited for the start of the regular season.
“It’s going to be a beautiful year just knowing you’re going into competition with Case,” said Stewart. “I love what Case is doing with the team and everybody’s behind him. Especially the offensive line… everybody loves him.”
Rookie wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been making waves at training camp and Stewart has been impressed.
“I love what I see from him,” Stewart continued. “He’s going to be a big threat in that red zone. He’s going to make some plays for us.”
