After making appearances in Denver for the Broncos’ OTAs, DeMarcus Ware has joined the team’s coaching staff on a part-time basis as a pass rushing consultant. Ware extended his knowledge to the Broncos’ pass rushers in late May during the early stages of OTAs and will now be an official part of the staff.
The future Hall of Famer will work “a few days a week, a few times a month,” reported Adam Schefter. Mike Klis has confirmed Ware will be on the staff 40-50 days. Although he also taught Dallas Cowboys pass rushers during OTAs, Ware opted for the opportunity to continue teaching the likes of Von Miller, Shaquil Barrett and first-round pick Bradley Chubb.
In his three-year tenure with Denver, Ware recorded 21.5 sacks while dealing with injuries in his final two seasons. Ware’s total of 138.5 sacks across his 12-year career ranks No. 8 all-time in the NFL.
Miller’s relationship with Ware has been widely discussed throughout the years as Miller credits his elder with imparting on him the knowledge that turned him into one of the NFL’s best pass rushers. With another top-5 pick in Chubb joining the picture as an edge rusher, Ware will have the opportunity to mold the next generation of Denver’s pass-rushing prowess.
