The Denver Broncos inked a pair of their 2017 NFL Draft picks on Wednesday, signing running back De’Angelo Henderson and quarterback Chad Kelly to four-year contracts.
Henderson was selected by the Broncos in the sixth round (203rd overall). The diminutive (5-foot-7) running back had a big career at Coastal Carolina, where he scored in 35 consecutive games. A change-of-pace option, he has good speed, running a 4.48 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. According to Mike Klis of 9 News, he will receive a signing bonus of $145,164.
Kelly was 2017’s Mr. Irrelevant. Selected with the 253rd and final pick of the draft out of Ole Miss, he is currently recovering from offseason wrist surgery. He also tore his ACL last season. He has a big arm and a good bloodline. According to Klis, he should receive a signing bonus of nearly $65,000.
To make room for the new players, the Broncos have waived center James Ferentz, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post.
The Broncos have now signed three members of their eight-man draft class; and they may have the others locked up very soon.
