The Denver Broncos are nominees for the “best team” in sports come July 13th at the ESPY Awards hosted by WWE superstar John Cena.
The Broncos, who defeated the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, will compete against the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, along with the UCONN Huskies, Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Alabama Crimson Tide and Villanova Wildcats.
According to the Broncos team website, quarterback Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Demarcus Ware and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller will all be representing the team at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Miller is also nominated for “Best Championship Performance” and will take on Carli Lloyd of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Sidney Crosby and LeBron James.
This would be Manning’s fourth award after winning the “Best Record Breaking Performance” and “NFL Player of the Year” in 2014 and “Best Record Breaking Performance” again in 2015.
This would also be the team’s ninth ESPY award since 1998.
