In his three stints with the Denver Broncos, offensive tackle Ryan Harris has had plenty of moments when panic could have set in.
Pick any time in the 2010 season when the team went 4-12 under Josh McDaniels and Eric Studesville. Or the 2011 postseason when he returned to Denver for the “Miracle at Mile High” game against the Steelers after having played only in the preseason for the Eagles that same year. But now, with a 2-0 team heading into Ford Field to face the 0-2 Lions?
“There’s no sense of panic,” Harris told Eric Goodman of Mile High Sports Am 1340 on Thursday.
No sense of panic, despite having a 39-year-old quarterback who’s been sacked almost half as many times in the first two weeks as he was all last year.
No sense of panic, despite a running game that has been grinding its gears like an beat up Volkswagen being driven by a 16-year-old.
No sense of panic, despite the fact that his All-Pro linemate, Louis Vasquez, has been limited in the first two days of practice for the week despite having had five days to recuperate from last Thursday’s win?
Nope. There’s no sense of panic for Harris or the offensive line.
In fact, Harris seemed proud of how his team played in a hostile environment, proud they controlled the ball for 37 minutes against Kansas City and said he certainly isn’t listening to the outside noise from the media about the offensive line’s struggles through a 2-0 start.
“We will improve drastically,” he told Goodman. No need to panic.
