One game after losing to the Portland Trail Blazers in dispiriting fashion, the Denver Nuggets shines in a close win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.

Without Nikola Jokic, it often takes a village to step up and earn wins. Jamal Murray was the village chief, scoring 39 points and leading the Nuggets offensively against an elite Rockets defense. DeAndre Jordan started in Jokic’s place, giving the Nuggets a traditional center to protect the rim, grab rebounds, and finish dunks in the middle of the floor. Others stepped up as well in a big, big win.

It just goes to show that the Nuggets are all of the good and bad habits that they’ve established across 72 games. They’re a team full of surprises and are as unpredictable as they’ve ever been. Who knows when they’re going to have a performance like this against an elite team?

Certainly not me.

On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Denver Nuggets win over the Houston Rockets, a big time performance to stabilize the team. Jamal Murray had 39 points, DeAndre Jordan played a major role, and every Nugget found an opportunity to step up and help take down one of the best teams in the Western Conference.

Ryan discusses the win, the resolve needed to earn the win, finding stability off the bench, and a preview of tonight’s game vs the Chicago Bulls on a back-to-back.
