Nikola Jokic has pushed back in the past on how easy he often makes the game look.
I remember being a part of pressers when media members ask him to comment on how easy things are and him just rolling his eyes or even getting frustrated. The game is difficult, and just because Jokic has good games doesn’t make it less so.
Case in point: last night, the Nuggets won 122-112 over the Miami Heat. Jamal Murray and Jonas Valanciunas struggled to break the Miami Heat zone. They’re really good players. Nikola Jokic had zero trouble, and a 33-point, 15-rebound, 16-assist line emphasizes that. It emphasizes how Jokic’s skill set makes the game look easy, even though what he’s doing takes incredible timing, coordination, and poise.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Denver Nuggets win over the Miami Heat in which Nikola Jokic put up a monster triple-double. The Nuggets had to navigate the Heat zone defense, and Jokic made it look easy. Ryan discusses his success, the struggles of Jamal Murray and Jonas Valanciunas, and more from last night’s win.
