Betting trends:
Despite playing their best basketball in franchise history, the Nuggets championship odds continue to fly under the radar. Fan Duel sportsbook has the Nuggets championship odds listed at +2500, which seems to be the consensus at sportsbooks around the globe.
Denver opened up as +5.5 underdogs to the Clippers, and that number has since spiked to +6.5. The over/under set is at 219, with 75% of public money funneling towards the over.
The public is backing the Nuggets ATS and on the ML, with 53% public money heading in Denver’s direction.
The Nuggets are 28-27-3 ATS this year, while the Clippers have a record of 31-27.
Both teams are trending in opposite directions ATS and with point totals. Los Angeles is 3-7 in their last ten games ATS, whereas Denver has covered in seven of their previous ten contests.
The total has gone over in seven of Denver’s last ten games, while the Clippers total has gone under in three consecutive games.
Denver’s games have been high-scoring as of late, with Denver totaling over 110 points in their last two contests. Los Angeles has failed to surpass the 110 point threshold for three consecutive games.
Over the past couple of seasons, the Nuggets have fared well ATS versus the Clippers, posting a 5-1 record. Over the course of those six matchups between Los Angeles and Denver, the total went under four times.
The Nuggets have been an upper-echelon defensive team all season, ranking 10th (108.2) in net defensive rating, whereas the Clippers have thrived offensively, posting the seventh-best offensive rating (112.1) in the association.
Denver must defend and keep the game at a slower, low-scoring pace should they want to earn a win on the road. Although the Nuggets offensive net rating is within the top-ten as well, Denver needs to rely on their defense to slow down the Clipper’s high-powered offense.
The Nuggets are 97-79 all-time versus the Clippers in the regular season, which includes a current three-game win streak.
