The Denver Broncos have found their franchise quarterback.

At least, for the short-to-medium term.

33-year old Russell Wilson is being traded to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster deal, according to Adam Schefter and many others:

For months, many in Broncos Country were hoping Aaron Rodgers would be the one traded to the orange and blue. Ironically, on the same day Rodgers announced he would be staying in Green Bay, mere hours later the news of this trade was released.

Drew Lock is part of the deal:

Lock, who enters his fourth year in the NFL, never really found his footing as a starter. Some will argue he wasn’t given enough chance, but Lock was injured in his first two years and then lost in open competition with veteran journeyman Teddy Bridgewater. Maybe Lock will finally figure it out in Seattle.

And this is reportedly the entire deal. 2 first-round picks, 2-second round picks, a 5th, Lock, Noah Fant and Shelby Harris:

Meanwhile, the Broncos get an incredible upgrade at quarterback in Wilson, even if he was injured and possibly came back from that injury too quickly in 2021.

At 33 years old, Wilson has played 10 years in Seattle and has thrown for 37,059 yards with 292 touchdowns and only 87 interceptions. He’s been named to the Pro Bowl 9 times and is a one-time Super Bowl Champion. Broncos fans will remember that game, Super Bowl XLVIII.

During his career, the Seahawks won nearly twice as many games as they lost (104-53-1) and they went 9-7 in the postseason, too.

It must be noted that Wilson played only 14 games for the Seahawks last year as he fractured his finger. However, Wilson missed only five weeks due to pushing incredibly hard to get back, and the timetable for that injury is usually 6-8 weeks. He admitted he wasn’t 100 percent when he returned.

But, coming back early showed he: 1. Loves the game and, 2. Did everything he could to get back on the field. Fans will adore him for that grit and determination.

And, that injury will be all healed up by the time the 2022 season kicks off.

For Denver, this is massive news because the Broncos were in need of a real-deal quarterback for many years, going back to 2015 and Peyton Manning’s final season. Even Manning wasn’t his usual self that year, injuring his lower body and losing velocity on the ball.

The Broncos, who were one of the most talented defensive teams in the NFL last year, get a massive upgrade at the most important position, quarterback. They also locked down No. 1 receiver Courtland Sutton and talented wideout Tim Patrick to long deals last year. Plus, Wilson will have a healthy KJ Hamler and Jerry Jeudy to throw the ball to, while losing the young and explosive Fant is a big blow.

It must be noted that new head coach Nathaniel Hackett has turned no-name tight ends into semi-stars in Green Bay, like Robert Tonyan for one.

Without a doubt, this is the biggest deal for the Broncos since they signed Peyton Manning way back in March of 2011. And, it sets the Broncos up as true, legitimate contenders to not only make the playoffs but get to the Super Bowl in 2022.
