Derek Wolfe has been an integral part of the Denver Broncos defensive line for the past six years and now, which is a long time for a defensive end.
As he makes the turn for his seventh season, Wolfe is grateful for his health, being pain free after his issues with his neck.
Wolfe was placed on injured reserve in December of 2017 with a neck injury. An injury that resulted in the lineman receiving a Foraminotomy procedure to alleviate the nerve pain that had bothered him for so long.
“I really don’t even notice that I had an issue with my neck,” Wolfe said on the Afternoon Drive on Tuesday. But even with no more issues, No. 95 knows how real the scare was for him as he battled the situation, getting advice from doctors, including one doctor that told him it would be best if he didn’t play football again.
“It was scary,” Wolfe explained. “I thought I was going to lose use of my right arm. It was really scary.” He also added there was never a doubt in returning to football, never a thought of calling it quits on a career.
“No, I don’t ever think that way. This is my life man,” Wolfe said. “I never think ‘Well, it’s not worth it.’ To me it’s always worth it. Not just the money, I love doing what I do.”
