As the Broncos entered OTAs this week, one rookie made it very clear what his intentions were.

“I’m not there to carry pads,” declared fourth round running back Devontae Booker. “I’m there to take someone’s job.”

While some have lauded Booker’s competitive drive, others have criticized. Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post joined Gil Whiteley to discuss the rookie’s bold words.

“We all know they’re thinking it,” said Jhabvala. “Just be honest, we all know you’re here to take a job, so it’s refreshing to hear that.”

While OTAs are where many players fight for their careers, not many are as quick as Booker to call attention to that. Gil pointed out another Bronco that came into his rookie year with the same confidence: Shannon Sharpe.

GIL WHITELEY LIVE STREAMThe great tight end is remembered as a player that always spoke his mind. Even from his first practice, Sharpe was smack talking teammates, according to Gil.

Sharpe was always a fiery competitor, making him a fan favorite. If Booker is on the same trajectory, Broncos fans should be very happy.

Although not participating in OTAs, recovering from a torn meniscus that ended his senior season, Booker’s statement has made him a hot topic of conversation. Now all that matters is if his play will stack up to his words.
