Denver Nuggets guard Emmanuel Mudiay started the season off on the lowest of notes. He looked dazed and confused, with little to no positivity in his game.
Well, after a quarter of the season, Mudiay has found his stride.
The Nuggets have managed to win three straight, salvaging this season from the brink of destruction, and Mudiay has played a major role.
He’s averaging 16 points in his last three contests, and is doing a solid job running and progressing the Nuggets offense.
Also, Mudiay has managed to score double digit points in his previous four contests, while cutting his turnovers down to just two a game, compared to his nearly three turnover’s per game season average.
A large reason is because of his renewed confidence. Early in the season Mudiay looked like he was a deer in the headlights. Now, he looks like the top-10 pick he was not so long ago.
There were times throughout the first quarter of the season where Mudiay was arguably the worst starter in the NBA, but head coach Michael Malone never had any doubts that his sophomore point guard would figure things out.
“I think Emmanuel Mudiay’s play the last two games has been outstanding,” Malone said. “Running our team, making big plays, playing with confidence. … He’s showing how much more effective he could be.”
With how poorly Mudiay was playing in November and early December, this is a welcomed turnaround for the Nuggets and their fans. Now, he just has to keep it up.
