Colorado Rockies first-round draft pick Riley Pint signed his rookie contract this morning, officially making him part of the Rockies organization.

Pint, 18, was the second-rated prospect in this year’s draft, according to MLB.com. His  contract is worth a reported $4.8 million.

“Really excited right now,” said Pint when introduced to the media. He also said he’ll continue to try and not let the hype that comes with being a high schooler selected No. 4 overall get to him.

While he was selected several days ago, it hadn’t truly hit Pint that his dream had been realized until today, when he put pen to paper.

“I don’t know when my debut is going to be,” Pint said,” but I’m pretty sure I’m heading to Grand Junction tomorrow morning.”

Pint has a triple digit fastball, but also has an arsenal of weapons which include a circle change, knuckle curve and a curve ball.

“I feel like my change up and knuckle curve are really good,” said Pint. “I just started throwing my curveball last year. Once I get that the way I want it to be, I feel like it’s going to be pretty good.”

Pint’s full arsenal of developed, or rapidly developing, pitches have the stars aligned for him to soar through the minors and make the jump to the bigs sooner rather than later.

“Work my way up as quick as I can,” said Pint in reference to his goals. “I feel like if I do the things I’m capable of doing, I could get to the big leagues pretty quick.”

We will be waiting Mr. Pint.
