Colorado Rockies left fielder Gerardo Parra is inching closer and closer to a return from a high-ankle sprain suffered on June 14th when he collided with shortstop Trevor Story.
“He’s starting to run around which is a good sign,” manager Walt Weiss said on Saturday. “It’s gone pretty well; we’ll start adding some baseball activity here pretty soon.”
Weiss went on to say that the team’s plan is to take a closer look at Parra when the squad travels to Atlanta to take on the Braves following the All-Star break.
Parra has been anxious to get back on the field.
“I can’t stand being inside watching the guys,” Parra told Nick Groke of The Denver Post. “It’s OK when we win, but when we lose, I really want to be out there.”
Parra is hitting a solid .263 this season for the Rockies in the first year of the three-year contract he signed this past offseason.
