With their second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos added athleticism next to Albert Okwuegbunam at tight end, by selecting Greg Dulcich.
Dulcich will add an exciting element to the Broncos’ offense, which is set to be more explosive and entertaining than it’s been in a long time, thanks to the historic trade for quarterback Russell Wilson.
There aren’t many better landing spots if you’re a field-stretching weapon like Dulcich, making the post-draft celebration extra special.
“It’s been probably the best 18 hours I can remember in my life,” he said at his introductory press conference. “It was super special to celebrate it with my family and my number one support system and to be at an organization like this, it doesn’t get any better. Playing with a guy like Russell Wilson and with such history that this place has, it’s an honor to be a part of.”
Part of that 18-hour-long whirlwind were phone calls from two of Denver’s stars whom Dulcich will be working closely with.
“It was awesome getting a FaceTime from ‘Russ’ (QB Russell Wilson) last night,” the third-round rookie said. “I was like, ‘This is a Hall of Fame’ dude—this is the man, and he’s just Facetiming me!’ So that was just an honor. I’m excited to get out there and work with him. ‘Al’ (TE Albert Okwuegbunam) too texted me. I’m excited to be in the same room as him and a number of other guys. It’s super exciting. It’s a great family here, I can already tell.”
It’s safe to say that Wilson is likely excited to get to work with Dulcich too, considering his ability to attack defenses downfield and create big plays.
“I think my speed is definitely elite. You watch the film [and] I’m getting great separation,” Dulcich said. “It’s really just my background as a receiver helps that a lot and the fundamentals I learned from my tight-end coach to get away from guys and create that separation was huge, and I’m excited to continue to do that at the next level.”
