Jakob Silfverberg hasn’t quite reached the top of the pecking order for the Anaheim Ducks, but he’s getting there. A pair of goals against the Colorado Avalanche in a 5-1 win on Tuesday night helped.
Ryan Kesler and Ryan Getzlaf might lead the team in points and assists, respectively, but Silfverberg sits atop the plus/minus category for the Ducks and he added to that total last night as Anaheim skated to the win on the first night coming out of the All-Star break. Colorado, meanwhile, has now lost eight consecutive games and 24 of their last 28.
Mikko Rantanen scored Colorado’s only goal in the contest as John Gibson made 28 saves on 29 shots for the Ducks. Anaheim scored three goals in the third period to skate away with an easy win, including Silfverberg’s second of the game and Korbinian Holzer‘s first of the season (and only third goal of his career).
The Avalanche stay in Southern California on Wednesday, traveling to Los Angeles to face the Kings. L.A. is winners of three straight and is 14-8-1 at home this season. Colorado is 8-14-1 on the road.
