A friendly face returns to the plate for the Rockies — Chris Iannetta, who signed a two-year, free agent deal to return to Colorado over the winter.
Iannetta batted .235 with 63 home runs in his first, six-year stint with the Rockies, growing as a catcher with multiple teams over the past six years.
Now and back with his original club, Iannetta, who will turn 35 in April, is ready to use his vast experience to help out the Rockies’ youthful rotation.
In an interview with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 from the Rockies’ spring training clubhouse at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Iannetta said that growth comes from repetition and executing what you know.
“Just working hand and hand. There’s no magic potion you sprinkle on them,” Iannetta said.
“It’s just a matter of going out there and competing, executing one pitch at a time. As simple as it sounds, that’s all it really is, can you execute one given pitch — one independent event — and just do that hundred times throughout the game.”
