Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is in line for a huge payday this offseason should 2015 go as well as everyone thinks it will.
And it’s not just Miller who needs to have a big year. The expectations are through the roof for Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Shane Ray, Danny Trevathan, Brandon Marshall, Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr., Bradley Roby, T.J. Ward and the entire defense.
Heck, that’s nine guys right there who all have a legitimate chance at the Pro Bowl. Of course, all of them won’t make it, but five or six from that list getting selected wouldn’t be a surprise.
But even though the Broncos might have the best defense in the league on paper, they haven’t quite entered that national conversation yet with the traditional powers.
Miller, though, has no problem with that. Here’s the Pro Bowl linebacker after practice on Wednesday in his words touching on a variety of topics:
Von Miller: “No, because (Baltimore is) a great defense. You can’t get tired hearing about great defense. I like hearing about great defenses. I like hearing about the Seahawks, the Ravens and all those guys because I feel like we’re a great defense, too. When you see all of these guys balling, it just pushes us more. They’re a great defense and I feel like we can be a great defense, too.”
VM: “We’re pretty excited. That first game of the season, it’s going to take care of itself. We’ve got a good Ravens team coming in here—a very, very solid offensive line and a very solid offense. I think they’re even better on defense. We’ve got a tough team. It’s an early test. It’s the same as always. If we can do what we do best, I feel like we’ll be alright.”
VM: “I haven’t talked to (Elvis Dumervil) this week. I already know how it is. His family, if they need tickets, my suite is his suite, same as always. I went to Elvis’ wedding in July. I just saw him not too long ago, him and all his brothers. It will be great to get him back in town. We’ll probably go to dinner if we can.”
