Besides the quarterback competition, the biggest storyline for the Denver Broncos remains Von Miller‘s yet-to-be-negotiated long-term contract.
The Broncos slapped Miller with the franchise tag, which will pay him handsomely this season, but he’s looking for some long-term security, and so far, he hasn’t been able to find it.
Mike Klis of 9News joined Mile High Sports Radio’s The Final Word on Sunday to discuss the Miller negotiations. On whether a deal will get done by the July 15th deadline, Klis responded sarcastically by saying, “Not before July 15th, but on the 15th.”
The Broncos are offering $18 million a year, but Miller is asking for $22 million, as he’s looking to become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history; Denver has stood firm.
Klis believes that the two sides will come to a compromise at somewhere around $20 million, but that Miller will not settle for anything less than the $19.1 million Ndamukong Suh is making in Miami.
And it makes sense. Miller is the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and is one of the most dominate football players in today’s game.
