Jamal Murray is on fire!
Not only was he elite from downtown in the Denver Nuggets’ first-round series comeback, Murray’s scoring tied an NBA record along the way.
All that phenomenal scoring earned the Nuggets’ star ELITE Sportsbook‘s inaugural athlete of the week award.
Murray kicked off the last week of action with his Nuggets down 2-1 in the series and he tried to carry them to a needed victory, posting a 50-point game and adding 11 rebounds. Then, facing elimination, he scored a “mere” 42 points — with 8 boards and 8 assists — to help push Denver to a dominant victory.
The “Blue Arrow” followed it up with a second 50-point game, becoming only the fourth NBA player to score 50-plus in two games during a single series. Murray joined Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson and Donovan Mitchell, with Mitchell doing so against Denver in the same series.
While his Game 7 was less memorable (17 points, 4 assists), Murray not only helped the Nuggets complete the series comeback and win, but his 32 3-pointers were second-most all-time in a series to Mitchell’s 33.
Tonight, Murray and the Nuggets face the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 of the second-round. That game tips off at 7 p.m. MT.
