Young Colorado Rockies pitcher Jon Gray may be trying not to focus on results during spring training, but the results were certainly there during his first outing.
Gray picked up the win against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. In his two innings of work, he allowed two hits, no earned runs, struck out two and issued zero walks.
The Rockies have high hopes for Gray this season. The team selected him third overall in the 2013 draft. Last season, the 25-year-old posted a record of 10-10, with an ERA of 4.61. He struck out an impressive 185 batters in 168 innings, but struggled with control at times and proved susceptible to the long ball.
Here’s Gray talking about his performance and what he was focused on.
