There’s no getting around it.
It may be a fruitless and senseless act, but the moment a franchise drafts a player, especially a quarterback, the first thing we have to do is compare him to those that have come before. While many have pegged Paxton Lynch as Brock Osweiler 2.0, ESPN’s Jon Gruden has a different take:
"I hate to compare him to Cam Newton, but I don't know anyone else to compare him to." – Gruden on Paxton Lynch pic.twitter.com/99mP2BkJS1

Whether or not Broncos Country loves Cam Newton, that’s a comparison every Broncos fan should be happy about; Newton is the reigning NFL MVP, remember?
Let’s check out the comparison:
PAXTON LYNCH:
Height: 6 foot 7
Weight: 244 pounds
40-Yard Dash: 4.86 seconds
Vertical Jump: 36.0 inches
Broad Jump: 118.0 inches
CAM NEWTON:
Height: 6 foot 5
Weight: 248 pounds
40-Yard Dash: 4.59 seconds
Vertical Jump: 35.0 inches
Broad Jump: 126.0 inches
Obviously, Newton is a better athlete than Lynch, but that doesn’t mean we should question Lynch’s mobility; he has the chance to be one of the league’s best quarterbacks on the run.
If Lynch can become anything like Newton, this will be a franchise-changing pick for the Denver Broncos.
