It’s no secret this offseason has been filled with questions in regards to the quarterbacks for the Denver Broncos. Can Trevor Siemian keep the starting job and improve? Will Paxton Lynch capitalize off his huge potential and upside and best Siemian? The questions surrounding the quarterback position may have a new factor soon, as many expect Tony Romo to be released from the Dallas Cowboys in the coming days.
With that being said, Broncos head coach Vance Joseph stated Wednesday morning in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine that the team plans to go with Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch for the time being.
“We’re set, at the moment,” Joseph said.
On the other hand, Joseph also stated that they are always willing to look at anyone who can help the team in the long run, per Nicki Jhabvala. Joseph is unsure of Lynch as a starting quarterback at the moment, but knows the skill set is there.
“Is he ready? I’m not sure, but you know, obviously, he’s got great skills, said Joseph. “He’s a tall man with a big arm. Is he ready? That’s a tough question. He had two starts last year, Trevor played also. It’s gonna be an open competition and whoever wins the job, that’s who’s gonna play.”
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Tuesday night, the Broncos are the top candidate to land Romo, if he is willing to take under $14 million, which is what he’s due under his current contract. Rapoport also reported that last November, when Romo realized Dak Prescott was taking the reins as quarterback, that he had his sights set on Denver as a potential destination.
