Well, the Kings didn’t match the Avalanche’s level of compete. Our Colorado advice hit yesterday (Avalanche and the under parlay, Burakovsky over 0.5 points), but we didn’t see the 6-0 Avalanche shellacking coming.
Let’s take a look at this matchup, the eighth and final between Los Angeles and Colorado this season, from a betting perspective in our Kings vs. Avalanche betting preview with odds, picks and predictions.
Colorado took advantage of the fact that they have a division crown in their sights and a less than interested Los Angeles squad as an opponent, burying the Kings — quickly.
It sets the Avs up to win the West Division and finish with the best record in the NHL and home ice advantage throughout the playoffs if they can beat the Kings one more time tonight.

Kings vs. Avalanche Betting Pick (May 13, 2021)
The Avalanche are currently on the second-longest home point streak in franchise history with at least one point in 16 straight games at Ball Arena (15-0-1). This includes eight consecutive home victories. Win tonight, and they match the record 17 straight games won on home ice from 2002-03. Overall, Colorado is 21-4-2 at home this season.
Colorado is also really good in the back end of back-to-back games this season, going 6-0-3.
Prior to last night’s debacle, the Kings had been a pretty solid road team of late, but now they are on a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) and just have to get through one more game to ride off into the summer sunset.
Kings vs. Avalanche Odds
Spread: Kings (+1.5 +118), Avalanche (-1.5 -141)
Moneyline: Kings (+310); Avalanche (-385)
Over/Under: Over 5.5 (-120)/Under 5.5 (-103)
Here are the lines for Kings vs. Avalanche at DraftKings Sportsbook:
Bets We Like With an Avalanche Win
Avalanche -1.5 AND UNDER 6.5 goals (+175, DraftKings)
The Avalanche are going to win, but laying -385 always gives you pause (it’s even worse at FanDuel where it’s -430). So what can you do to try and cash in on an almost sure thing, without putting so much of your bankroll at risk? Similar to yesterday’s recommendation, but slightly different and with better odds, take the Avalanche to cover the puck line and tease up the over/under by a goal to get favorable odds.
Again, NONE of the the seven games played between these teams this season has surpassed six goals. And Colorado doesn’t want to get into a nail biter with so much on the line. This reeks of a good bet.

CLAIM OFFERBets We Like With a Kings Win
Gabriel Vilardi OVER 0.5 goals (+430, FanDuel)
We don’t think the Kings have a chance in H-E-double hockey sticks to win this game. Still, we’ll stick with the same advice as yesterday since there’s just so much value in it. Vilardi was the Kings first round draft pick in 2017, and now at 21 years old, he’s starting to show why he was so highly touted.
Vilardi had his four-game point streak snapped last night, but he has scored two goals against Colorado this season, including one last weekend in Los Angeles. With the odds as hugely in the bettor’s favor, and with Vilardi finding his game recently (last night aside), this remains a worthy gamble for a nice payout.

Bets We Like Independent of Outcome
Andre Burakovsky OVER 0.5 points (-148, FanDuel)
The sportsbooks are starting to catch up on these player props, but we consider anything less than -150 worthwhile, so this may be the last game you can get Burakovsky at worthy odds (he was -132 yesterday on the same bet). If you’ve followed our betting advice for much of the past six weeks, you know we believe in riding player hot streaks.
Nathan MacKinnon made you a lot of money last month doing that. Burakovsky is the latest Avalanche player to get on that kind of roll. He is riding a seven-game point streak (4-6-10) and has points in 10 of his last 12 games (6-9-15). The odds aren’t horrible in case this misses, but it’s likely to hit, and keep you rolling in the winnings on your Avalanche player props.
Kings vs. Avalanche Prediction
We thought the Kings would hang in with the Avalanche yesterday for a bit before Colorado pulled away. That’s where we were wrong. Thankfully, that didn’t impact our betting advice, and we don’t think our pick will be off tonight either.
Colorado REALLY wants that No. 1 overall seed for the playoffs. They’ve been on a mission. They aren’t going to blow it on home ice in the final game of the season against a non-playoff team. Nope.
Pick: Avalanche 5, Kings 1.
