Already a hometown favorite, Kyle Freeland continues to be a great ambassador for the Mile High City. On Monday, the third-year pro announced that he will be putting on the Kyle Freeland Baseball ProCamp.
Hosted by UC Health, the event will take place on July 1 at his alma mater, Thomas Jefferson High School.
The camp will be open to boys and girls from grades 1-8, with all skill levels encouraged to attend, will focus on fundamentals. Each attendant will be given the chance to learn from Freeland, along with several other collegiate and prep coaches. The participants will also receive an autograph and photo with the Rockies’ ace.
Hosting the event is just another step for the former Denver standout to expand his reach in the community.
As a TJHS Spartan, Freeland hurled 20 games, seven of which he went the distance in. In those 20 appearances, Freeland accrued a 2.03 earned run average, 11 wins and 181 strikeouts en route to attending the University of Evansville.
The southpaw went on to become the Colorado Rockies’ eighth overall pick after declining his prior drafting by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 35th round out of high school.
