Old Spice loves the manly man, and there’s nothing more manly that a professional football player. That’s why they’ve looked towards the NFL to fill out the of “Old Spice guy” for the last six years. From Isaiah Mustafa to Terry Crews, both of which spent a few seasons hopping around NFL practice squads before focusing their attention on acting, the role of “Old Spice guy” has been one of television’s favorites.
But now, with the news that Von Miller will take on the role this season, Old Spice looks to have found their most manly man of all — sorry, Greg Jennings.
But how did Von Miller receive this honor? Simple, he earned it.
A year ago this time, Miller was a great player, but he wasn’t any more than your normal, run-of-the-mill NFL star. Today, he’s probably the most well known football player in America, if not the most well known athlete in general.
But in case you forgot how Von got to this point — how he became the Old Spice guy — here’s a quick reminder:
The title of “Old Spice guy” wasn’t gifted to Von Miller; he had to go out there and take it.
You can be sure that if it was the Carolina Panthers who took home the Lombardi Trophy last February, Cam Newton would be the one with the sweet-smelling deodorant in his hand.
