C.J. Anderson has adopted a new form of training in the offseason, it seems. The Broncos running back is following in the footsteps (or is it tire tracks?) of one of his former teammates, using cycling to stay in shape.
He began about two weeks ago with a 30-mile ride to the “office.”

Anderson posted a pair of messages over the Memorial Day weekend showing his latest workouts.

Anderson logged 44.3 miles on Sunday, then another 28 on Monday.

Avid Broncos fans will remember that former Broncos safety David Bruton was an avid cyclist and used it as a way to stay in great shape each offseason.
Cycling is a low-impact, high-cardio workout that should be great to help Anderson rehab is injured knee ahead of the 2017 season.
Anderson also posted a few semi-cryptic messages on Twitter over the weekend that may have given a scare to his loyal fans.

Don’t worry Broncos fans, Anderson isn’t going anywhere. He’ll just be taking a short break from his usually active social media self to focus on football for a while.

He clarified his intentions early Tuesday morning noting that he’s not giving up on the medium, just taking a break as he does every year in order to put his primary focus on football.

Anderson is working his way back from a knee injury that cost him nine games in 2016. The 2014 Pro Bowler and 2015 Super Bowl champion was averaging 4.0 yards per attempt and had four touchdowns through seven games for Denver last year when he suffered a season-ending meniscus tear.
The veteran back won’t have to shoulder such a heavy load this season for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, Mike McCoy has returned to Denver as offensive coordinator and will bring a more pass-heavy offense than the Broncos ran the past two years under Rick Dennison.
On top of that, Devontae Booker now has a year of experience under his belt and should warrant more carries.
Last but not least, Broncos GM John Elway added veteran All-Pro Jamaal Charles on a team-friendly deal this offseason. Charles is also coming off a knee injury, so there’s a good chance we’ll see a running back by committee approach for Denver.
Anderson is one of the most active Broncos on social media. He’s an avid gamer and bowler, and his Twitter account is a great place to not only keep up to speed on those things, but also a way to win cool prizes and experiences from Anderson.
Those will go on hiatus soon as the Broncos head into minicamp and training camp, but Broncos fans will certainly take the absence if it means Anderson returns healthy and ready to get his team back into the playoffs.
