Matt Duchene and his fiancee may be rooted in hockey, but they went basketball for their Halloween costumes this year. Well, sort of. The couple rocked “Bugs” and “Lola” costumes from the classic animated hoops movie, “Space Jam.”

Duchene isn’t the only modern athlete to pay tribute to the 1996 film, which starred Michael Jordan and also featured Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing. Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin made his own “Space Jam 3” internet short back in July.
The Avalanche earned a nice long break between their four-game road trip, which ended on Saturday, and their next game, which isn’t until Friday night. Colorado split the series 2-2-0 against four of the Eastern Conference’s best teams – Pittsburgh, Washington, Tampa Bay and Florida.
Duchene scored three goals and added two assists over the four games. Colorado returns to action on Friday night at Pepsi Center against Winnipeg.
