At 7-1, the Denver Broncos are pacing the AFC West by a comfortable three games on Oakland (with a win in hand), four games on Kansas City (also with a win in hand) and 5.5 games on San Diego (they first meet on Dec. 6). All that success has led to a good amount of praise for the current No. 3 seed in the AFC, which has come in many forms.
The Broncos have netted multiple AFC Defensive Player of the Week designations, as well as AFC Player of the Month awards on both defense and special teams. Numerous Broncos were recognized by in-house experts from the NFL with midseason accolades. And here at Mile High Sports we’ve handed out plenty of weekly “Studs” and “Power Rankings” that catalog the successes the team has had up and down the lineup.
But even a division-leading team has weaknesses. Thus, the guys from The Big Show on Mile High Sports AM 1340 attempted to determine which Broncos have been the worst performers through the first eight games, using their “Least Valuable Broncos” bracket.
Names like Shelley Smith, Cody Latimer and Corey Nelson may not get much airtime on Sundays, but they were all over the airwaves as Kent Erickson, Benny Bash and Benjamin Allbright debated which player rose to the top of the mediocrity list. So, who was the Broncos’ least valuable player?
