Thursday’s preseason finale against Arizona gave Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak and his staff to make a final evaluation of the players whose NFL futures are in jeopardy. Some players shined. Some players punched their tickets to the practice squad. And some will find themselves in the unfortunate position of being unemployed as of Saturday when final rosters are due.
Only Kubiak and his coaches truly know which players will comprise the final 53-man roster, but as the game unfolded, the MHS team was keeping a close eye on players whose future as Broncos hung in the balance and offered their take.
On guys (not competing for fourth-string running back) who may have punched their ticket to the 53-man roster…
Darius Kilgo getting plenty of work at both DE spots. Precursor to perhaps being part of rotation at DE filling in for Wolfe in Weeks 1-4?

Bennie Fowler is making it awful tough not to keep six wide receivers. They'd never do it, but Cody Latimer has been the worst of the bunch.

I think this will be Siemian's third 4th qtr comeback. . . Very Elwayesq

Siemian has what is hard to coach into a guy: poise, cool and a feel for the pass rush. Intriguing prospect. Some real good tools there.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 4, 2015
But that wasn't a good moment for Siemian — looked for Isaiah Burse in double coverage, intercepted by Chris Clemons. Locked in on Burse.

Does Trevor Siemian want to go 23-0 or not?!
— Will Petersen (@PetersenWill) September 4, 2015
Love how active Josh Bush has been attacking plays in the box and in the flat.

Many curious to see what #Broncos do with Ball, but what's most interesting is what w/happen w/Siemian. Wouldn't be shocked if he makes 53.

On guys (not named Montee Ball or Kapri Bibbs) who didn’t help their causes…
Noticed Ben Garland on the sideline. From the first team when camp began to backing up in the preseason finale. Cruel summer for No. 63.

Markus Golden works past Michael Schofield for the third-down sack. Schofield allowed some pressures in the first half, as well.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 4, 2015
Michael Schofield is just getting killed. He's the backup LT? Really? #Broncos
— James Merilatt (@jamesmerilatt) September 4, 2015
#Broncos Louks is only good at catching footballs while standing still and then not moving after that.
— Eric Goodman (@EricGoodman) September 4, 2015
Montee Ball with a draw to end the half … Marcel Jensen with a not-great block; Ball gets stopped. Broncos lead 13-10 at the half.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 4, 2015
Louks lost a TD and a roster spot to Fowler on that series. (Fowler may have been a lock anyway but)
— Adam Kinney (@adamrkinney) September 4, 2015
Markus Golden blows past Schofield again. He bull-rushed Schofield, then bounced off him and got in Siemian's face as he threw.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 4, 2015
The fact that we all know Curtis Marsh's name is why Curtis Marsh won't make the roster. Constantly seeing the back of his jersey. #Broncos
— James Merilatt (@jamesmerilatt) September 4, 2015
Marcel Jensen whiffs on the block of Kareem Martin — 10-yard loss on the sack. Blocking scheme still getting shredded.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 4, 2015
Bennie Fowler can taste 23-0… Even if he's selling cell phones next week.
— Will Petersen (@PetersenWill) September 4, 2015
Andrew Mason offered one final non-commital roster prediction…
Remember what Kubiak said Tuesday — the Broncos could keep 6 or even 7 WRs. Norwood & Caldwell have made big statements last 2 weeks.
