Everything seemed to go right for the Denver Broncos last season en route to their Super Bowl championship, and the Mile High Magic seems to be sticking around.
On Thursday night the Denver Broncos did everything they could to lose the game. Three turnovers inside the Panthers’ 30-yard line, embarrassing time management, a backbreaking hands-to-the-face penalty from Chris Harris Jr. on a fourth and 21 to give the Panthers a first down with two minutes to go in the game.
The Broncos outplayed the Panthers for the vast majority of the game. Until Carolina’s final 28-yard drive, Denver out-gained the Panthers 307-305, and with 178 yards on 26 attempts, Siemian was right on par with Cam Newton — minus the two interceptions, of course.
Most of all, though, C.J. Anderson looked to be the most impactful player of the game, with 139 yards and two touchdowns.
But all of that would have gone down the drain had Graham Gano downed a 50-yard punt as time ran out.
And he did! Only, Gary Kubiak happened to have called a timeout the moment before — he “iced” him. And when Gano came around for try two, the ball went wide left.
Wide Left. #Kickoff2016 https://t.co/Qp7D9mzRc0

Last year it was Jamaal Charles‘ fumble in Week 2, or Fitzgerald Touissant’s fumble in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, or Cam Newton’s fumbles in the Super Bowl.
This time around, it’s wide left.
They iced the kicker and he seriously missed the game winner wide left!?!? #DENvsCAR pic.twitter.com/bbRAULsivU

A lot of pundits are already counting the Denver Broncos out, but when there’s a little Mile High Magic in the air, you can never count out the orange and blue.
