When a player shoots 5-of-22 from the field and 2-of-11 from three, it’s never fun or good for anyone.
Michael Porter Jr. had a tough shooting night against the Milwaukee Bucks last night in the Denver Nuggets 121-112 loss on national television. It was likely Porter’s worst game of the season, and there were several calls for his benching and even some stronger claims from Nuggets fans as a result of another unfortunate performance against a good, physical team.
Still, Porter very rarely shoots like that. Last night’s first half was just the sixth time in his NBA career when he’s attempted at least five three-pointers and made zero of them in a regular season game.
Porter’s shooting consistency highlights when he doesn’t shoot well perhaps even more strongly than the moments when he DOES shoot well.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn recaps the Denver Nuggets 121-112 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in which very little went right for Denver. Nikola Jokic was great offensively and good enough to win, but he didn’t get enough help from the supporting cast. Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon especially struggled, while Jamal Murray was subpar. Add in some poor fourth quarter defense and the Nuggets couldn’t keep up.
Ryan discusses the loss, what are real and not real concerns, and previews tonight’s matchup with the Detroit Pistons.
