Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon’s first All-Star experience did not end as well as he probably hoped on Sunday, as Team Pacific drilled his Team Central, 10-3. Team Pacific will then fall to Team Metropolitan in the final, 4-3.
The 21-year-old MacKinnon, now in his fourth year with the Avs, took four shot attempts throughout the game but couldn’t manage to get the puck into the net. He won 75 percent of his faceoffs, the highest percentage on Team Central, but was also minus-3.
The game, however, was a sharp contrast to his efforts this season with the Avalanche. While he did not do much to aid Team Central’s efforts on Sunday, he’s been a driving force offensively for the Avalanche all season with 11 goals and 33 points.
In his short, four-year career on the professional ice, MacKinnon has 186 points to his name, with 70 goals and 116 assists.
