Rapids fans once thought they would have to wait until July to catch their first glimpse of Kevin Doyle.
Now, they will have a chance to rub elbows with the team’s newest Designated Player on Monday, May 18 at a meet-and-greet at The Celtic Tavern in Denver.
Doyle signed with Colorado in March and brings a decade of English football experience, including 92 goals in 532 appearances, to a squad that has lacked in scoring as of late. Additionally, Doyle brings 61 caps with 14 goals for the Republic of Ireland.
And as far as seeing Doyle on the pitch goes, that timeline has decreased greatly, as well. An early exit by his former club in the English Championship league playoffs led to an advanced release, which could put the striker in play for Colorado before the month is out.
The meet-and-greet is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey, VP of Soccer Operations and Technical Director Paul Bravo, Sporting Director Pádraig Smith and Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni will also be in attendance.
