Nikola Jokic had an opportunity to set the tone as a scorer against Myles Turner and the Indiana Pacers last night. Instead, he stayed true to who he is.
The Denver Nuggets won 125-116 in Indiana, kicking off their road trip in the right way. Jokic had 18 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and a block. Oh, and he had a career-high 19 assists along the way, the second most by a center in NBA history.
So many players would have overreacted to a bad scoring performance against a team like the Los Angeles Lakers that denied him the ball as often as they did. Rather than force the issue as a scorer, Jokic made the right play constantly, and it led to an impressive Nuggets win.
That’s why Jokic is the best in the world.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Denver Nuggets impressive 125-116 win over the Indiana Pacers. Nikola Jokic set the table for the entire team with a career-high 19 assists. Aaron Gordon had 25 points in 24 minutes. Michael Porter Jr. dominated inside the arc. Jamal Murray went 4-of-4 from three. Even Zeke Nnaji locked in.
Ryan breaks down the all-around team win, Gordon’s improved shotmaking, Nnaji’s new role, and more on today’s show.
