There’s something magical about a full court shot. It hangs in the air forever, and the entire arena watches the ball float for what feels like an eternity. Very rarely is that moment paid off with a make, but it was last night. And it turned Ball Arena into an absolute zoo.
Nikola Jokic is doing things we’ve never seen before. That shot was the most impressive of the examples, and nobody in the arena knew how to react to such obvious greatness boiled down to just one shot attempt. It was patently insane.
That’s not the only reason Nikola Jokic is having the greatest season I’ve ever witnessed, but it’s his ability to do things like that and the audacity to make it happen that pushes this year over the top. No athlete in the city of Colorado has ever done anything like this before.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Denver Nuggets 132-123 win over the Sacramento Kings. Nikola Jokic went absolutely insane with 35 points, 22 rebounds, and 17 assists, something that’s never been done before. His full court shot also left Ball Arena speechless.
Ryan discusses the win, Jokic’s greatness, and previews Denver’s upcoming five-game road trip.
